READtreat: Building Our Collective Voice

Join us for a spring weekend for readers ready to move from concern into action. We’ll read, talk, and plan together so you leave knowing who you are as an advocate, what you care about, and how your voice fits into something larger. Not a march. Not a rally. The weekend you figure out your way in.

You know something is wrong.

You’ve been paying attention. You’ve felt the unease settle in your chest and wondered what you’re supposed to do with it. You’re not the type to carry a sign down a street, or maybe you are, but you know that alone isn’t enough. You want to do something that actually fits you. Something you can sustain.

This retreat is for you.

What we’ll do together

Banned books are our starting point, not our destination. We’ll use them as a lens to explore what we each value, what we’re willing to defend, and how we each show up best when something matters to us. Through guided reading, honest conversation, and structured planning time, you’ll leave with:

  • A clearer sense of your own advocacy style and strengths

  • A concrete idea of where and how you want to take action

  • A community of women who get it, and who will keep showing up alongside you

What the weekend looks like

This is learning, not lounging, but we believe the best thinking happens when you’re also well-fed, well-rested, and surrounded by people who feel like home. Expect good food, morning movement, and the kind of deep conversation that’s hard to find anywhere else. We’ll work hard and take care of ourselves at the same time, because that’s part of the practice too.

Who this is for

Women who are paying attention and want to do more. Women who haven’t found their way in yet, or who have tried and lost steam. Women who love books and believe that stories are how we understand what’s worth fighting for. You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be ready to look for them with us.

Come ready to dig in. Leave ready to show up.

Lindsay Mueller
Lindsay is a lifelong book lover, community builder, and certified coach who believes deeply in the magic of stories—and the power of rest. After nearly two decades supporting small business owners, nonprofit leaders, and grassroots organizers, she created the Readers’ Retreat as a space for people to slow down, reconnect, and get lost in a really good book. The idea for this retreat was sparked after Lindsay attended one herself at South Shore. Being surrounded by nature, good books, and thoughtful conversation left a lasting impression—and she knew she wanted to create a similar experience for others. A space where…
