Our Why

Our founder, Francie S. Richards, knows what it’s like to give everything to the work, the people, the life you’ve built - and still feel like something is missing. After years in social impact leadership, she found herself returning again and again to one place to reset: retreat.
Time away became something deeper. A way to breathe again. To reconnect. To remember who she was underneath the expectations. To smile and laugh effortlessly again.
So she began creating that space for others, first through retreats in Mexico, and now closer to home.
In 2024, Wild Heart found its home base in Western Michigan at South Shore Resort & Retreats, a lakeside setting designed for rest, connection, and meaningful moments.
Today, we host retreats here and in destinations around the world, all rooted in the same intention:
To help you slow down, reconnect, and come back to yourself.
And when you do, something else happens, too.
Every Wild Heart experience supports the work of Dharma Collab, extending rest and resilience to leaders who spend their lives caring for others.
